Featuring subdued tones of yellow and copper, this serene composition centers on creamy white yucca blooms set against emerald leaves and crimson bottle brush. Hand woven by Ms. Reda Ahmed. Learn more about her story below.
Pure cotton for the warps and pure wool for the wefts. All dyeing is done at the Art Centre and most of the dye plants are grown in the garden that surrounds the workshops.

About the artist
Ms. Reda Ahmed
Reda Ahmed was born in 1965, Harrania village. Her father was a farmer.
She attended the local primary school till the age 16. When Reda was 11, she joined the young kids whom came to the centre after school and during summer holidays to weave and play, later they were the group became the second generation weavers with Suzanne Wissa Wassef in 1972.
Reda has a strong passion for weaving, provides her with the ability to discover the endless capabilities of the weaving technique. Reda's subject matter varies from depicting village stories and farmer’s activates in the fields, to market places, the sea and garden landscapes with their detailed flowers and cactus. Her tapestries is part of the centre’s collection and has been exhibited worldwide since the mid 80’s.
She attended the 2006 Egyptian landscape exhibition at the Brunei Gallery of the SOAS- London University and wove for 2 weeks for the public.
Reda is marred with 3 children the eldest is 25 years old.
